Islamic Religiosity in the West

Belonging and political engagement in multicultural cities

This Australian Research Council (ARC) Discovery project uses a comparative approach to explore the everyday experiences of a broad cross-section of practising Muslims in global cities across three Western contexts: Australia, France and the USA. This study provides insights into the role of Islamic beliefs, rituals, and faith-based community practices in shaping experiences of active citizenship, belonging, and political engagement across these selected cities: Melbourne (Australia), Lyon, Grenoble and Paris (France) and Detroit (USA).
